Information for Visiting Parents

Children, Youth, Church and PCC
First and foremost- Children and youth are WELCOME at PCC!
All families have children and youth somewhere in their family tree and we are happy to have you consider adding to our branches!

As a parent, you may have some questions about how children and youth interact within worship, what they (and you) can expect in Sunday School and Nursery and Toddler programs. This gives you a brief picture about our programs for children and youth. It is not meant to be all inclusive.

WORSHIP
Our children and youth are normally present with us each Sunday at the beginning of worship, following the “Children’s Time”, the children and youth leave worship to continue their own Sunday School Programs. However, children and youth of all ages are always welcome to remain with you in worship!
Several Sundays of the year are designated as “Family Sundays” and our children and youth remain in worship for the entire service.
Through our Sunday School programs, as well as in worship, we endeavor to teach about the meaning of worship and the sacraments in age-appropriate ways so that we grow together in our understanding of what we do when we gather for worship.
If you are visiting PCC and have children that may require some activity during church, please feel free to borrow an activity backpack. It contains information for you and fun, church-related items for your child.

SACRAMENTS
As Presbyterians, we celebrate two sacraments, Baptism and Communion, Our congregation celebrates the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper on the first Sunday of each month. Any baptized child or youth of any age is welcome to receive Communion, with their parents’ agreement. We also practice infant baptism, although if you or your child or youth have not been baptized in another Christian tradition, we baptize at any age! We recognize the baptisms received in another Christian congregation and no one needs to be rebaptized.
