Christian Education and Sunday School at PCC

PCC offers Sunday School that is offered during a portion of the service.  Children are invited to join age appropriate classes following a "time for Students" during worship.  There are certain Sundays that are reserved as Family Sundays, where the Sunday School program is not held. If you wish to learn about children and the Presbyterian worship service please click here.

PCC has a part time Christian Education director who works with the pastor and leaders to develop curriculum, ensure appropriate teachers are in place and adding new ideas to our program.

There are youth related social activities planned through out the year. If you have any questions about these programs, or want more detail, please ask! Any member would be happy to answer your questions or point you to the person that has the answers.

NURSERY

Our youngest children (birth to potty trained) are welcome to join this caring and playful environment during the worship service.  This area is staffed each week.  Volunteers are welcome.

TODDLERS

Following the children’s sermon, our 3 and 4 year olds join in play, simple crafts, short stories and church songs.  Parents and volunteers staff this program on a rotating basis.

“WoRM”

[“Workshop Rotation Model”]

This Sunday School program is for children in grades K-5.  Monthly topics are taught in a variety of workshops- from storytelling, to crafts, to drama, to cooking, to science!  A monthly “coach” will staff these lessons which are designed to engage our children in learning many Bible stories and faith lessons.  Volunteers are always needed.  These classes meet each week during the 9:30 a.m. worship service, except for “Family Sundays.”

TWEENS  [grades 6-8]

This Sunday morning program for middle schoolers is designed to form a foundation of Bible and catechetical knowledge for our young people in order to prepare them for confirmation.   This group meets each Sunday during the 9:30 a.m. service, except Communion and Family Sundays.

CONFIRMATION
Confirmation for youth normally occurs in grade 9 with a program of faith development and instruction in preparation for making thier personal profession of faith and joining church as a full member.
TEENS [grades 9-12]
This program meets the second and fourth Sundays of the month to provide a Bible study and faith application time for our high schoolers. Discussions and activities are the format of these classes. Our teens remain in worship for communion Sundays and serve the congregation on the third Sundays of the month in a variety of ways – ushering, nursery and toddler volunteers, etc.
tTWIST
This new program is designed to help our tweens and teens join together in service and form a bond to each other and our community. The group meets the first Sunday of the month from 11 a.m.-12 noon to plan activities for service, fellowship, fun and learning.
